Quick question. If you are using a matrix of choices for a relational question with a number of level columns (very neg, neg, neutral, positive, very positive) by piped selected participants (nodes) as rows
How is the raw data translated when the data is downloaded. Does it come out as numbers or the column labels?
It woul be great if you could assign a numerical value to a label entered. this would reduce the potential human error if you need to replace the labels with numbers for analysis.
For matrix questions where multiple selections is set to “Yes”, you will find that the generated network includes an attribute for each column heading and the attribute value will be equal to the name of the column heading if the respondent ticks the checkbox. Where multiple selections is set to “No” there will just be one attribute for the question and the attribute value will be equal to the value that the respondent selected (if they selected one).
I understand where you are coming from with the request to be able to assign a numerical value to these attributes where multiple selections is set to “No”. It would be nice to be able to automatically map say Strongly Disagree, Disagree, Neutral, Agree, Strongly Agree to pre-defined values that would then appear as weights on edges automatically when the network was generated. At the moment it’s possible to do that via a two-step process whereby you would export the network after generation to Excel and then add an additional attribute on the edges with the weights that you assign before then uploading that as a new network or updating the existing network. It would be great to see this as a feature request! Please do feel free to add it here: https://newcommunity.polinode.com/c/feature-requests
