Collaborative Burnout

I’m curious what work or research others utilizing Polinode might be doing when it comes to Collaborative Burnout and Overload? I came across Rob Cross’s keynote from the People Analytics & Future of Work (PAFOW) conference in Philadelphia and found it quite insightful. I’m adding a link to an article he published for HBR regarding this topic. My first step is to add a question to our survey probing how much time is spent in meetings, responding to email and answering phone calls. Hoping this generates some discussion and insights for the broader community.

Thanks for posting the resource! I too have got a lot out of Rob Cross’ work on collaborative overload and believe that both identifying areas of overload as well as helping people to better manage it is very important. One of my favorite questions in this vein, also inspired by Rob’s work, is to ask how important it is for the respondent to get greater access to the people that he / she nominated. We can then calculate what proportion of a person’s incoming nominations believe greater access is important which can be suggestive of overload.
